Our check found differences from the district's official calendar

On we compared this feed, date by date, with the district's official calendar. This is what did not match:

  • Mon, Mar 29 (Kuhio Day, observed) is a day off, but the feed does not show it. The feed puts Kuhio Day on Fri, Mar 26 (Good Friday, also a day off).
  • Feb 8: the feed says Institute Day for all islands. The official calendar says one day between Feb 8 and 12, different for each island and not announced yet.

The dates below are the district's feed as published. If you subscribe, you get the district's fixes automatically when it makes them, and this note comes off once our next check finds them.

Questions parents ask

How do I add the HIDOE calendar to my iPhone?

Tap "Add to Apple Calendar" on this page on your iPhone and confirm Subscribe. The HIDOE dates appear in the Calendar app as their own calendar and update by themselves.

How do I add the HIDOE calendar to Google Calendar?

Tap "Add to Google Calendar" on this page while signed in to Google, then confirm Add. It shows on every device signed in to that Google account.

Does this calendar update if HIDOE changes a date?

Yes. It is copied from Hawaii State Department of Education's own published calendar several times a day, so a changed date, like a snow make-up day, reaches your calendar within hours. Dates can still change during the year, so check the district's calendar before planning around one.

Why subscribe instead of saving the PDF?

A downloaded calendar is out of date the first time the district moves a day, like a snow make-up day. A subscription is a live copy: when HIDOE changes its calendar, the change reaches your phone within hours, with nothing to redo.
