Do I need the app, or can I just use the website?
The website does everything. The app is a convenience for your own phone; people you share with never need it.
You never need the app. tangohive.com does everything in any browser, on a phone or a computer.
Anyone you share a calendar or a page with needs nothing at all: no app and no account. They open your link and can add the calendar to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook right there.
The iPhone app is a convenience for the person running things: quick access on your own phone and your phone's native share sheet for sending links. Pick whatever fits; it is the same account either way.
