Spond is free and well liked, so this is not a price argument. It is a structural one, and it comes down to where your schedule lives.
In an app-first tool, the schedule lives in the app and everyone has to be in it. TangoHive puts the schedule into the calendar each family already keeps, and gives the group a page anyone can open with no install.

- You want in-app group chat as the main channel.

TangoHive stays narrow on purpose: the calendar, the list, the posts, and your public page. - Not today. If attendance drives your week, a purpose-built team app will serve you better.
- What does subscribing actually do?
- It adds a live feed to a parent's calendar app. When you change a time, their phone updates on its own, with no new message to read.
